When Did you start working at Irving? 

January 4th of 2021 

How long have you been teaching? 

I substitute taught and student taught before working at Irving. 

Why did you become a teacher? 

I just always knew it was what I was meant to do. But when I graduated from college, I did marketing. After, I went back and got my teacher’s license and degree. I love working with students and being a teacher. 

How has teaching at Irving been? 

It’s been good but difficult because of starting online. Online has been hard work but the teachers and students are great. Definitely has been challenging work. 

What college did you go to? 

went to Loyola University of Chicago and got my teachers license from Trinity Christian College. 

What degree’s do you have? 

have my bachelor’s degree; a marketing degree and also a teacher’s license. 

What made you become a reading teacher? 

have always loved to read.  My favorite teachers where always reading teachers. One of my reading teachers really brought out that wanted to become a reading teacher. 

What have you been teaching in your reading class? 

Non-Fiction and I also want my students to love reading. 

What do you find interesting about reading? 

love that when you read a book it feels like you’re on a vacation and like you’re going to a different world. 

What are your favorite books to read? 

The Scythe series by Neal Shusterman and Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds. 

Who are your favorite authors? 

Jason Reynolds or Nick Stone. 

How many books have you read? 

try to at least read 40 books a year. This has been my goal since graduated from high school. 

What teacher would you be if you weren’t a reading teacher? 

I would be a librarian or a business teacher. 

What have you thought about Covid and the upcoming going back to school? 

I am extremely excited about coming back into the building and meeting my students. I am also happy I got my second vaccine. 

If you could change anything in your life, what would you change? 

I would change the situation we’re in and make everyone safe and comfortable and not have to deal with Covid. 

What are your favorite movie and book genres? 

Watching movies would be comedy. My favorite movies are ones with Adam Sandler in them, I think. For reading my favorite genre would be drama. 

If you didn’t teach, what would you like to do or be? 

would own my own bookstore and café One side would be a bookshop and the other half would be a café. 

What do you do in your free time? 

read, play with my dog, Yogi, and I love to walk. I was an athlete my whole life. 

Have you lived in any other place besides Illinois or the United States? 

No but wish I had because my friends are in various places, but it would be hard for me to leave my family. 

Have you ever traveled or been on vacation and where? 

have been to New York almost every year and I have also been to CaliforniaI have traveled everywhere because of softball but those have been my favorites. 

If you met a Genie, what would you wish for and why? 

For my family and loved ones to stay safe and healthy, never have to pay for books, and I want to have endless amounts of Coffee. 

If you could get rid of 5 foods or drinks, what would you get rid of? 

would get rid of Kale, Pork Chops, Milk, Peas, and Mangos because they’re too sweet. 

What would you do if you won the lottery (1 billion dollars)? 

would open my dream shop, buy myself and my family houses that are next to each other so we can all be neighbors. I would buy books for all my students and each time get new students I would give them books and so on. I would save the money too. 

What’s your favorite dog breed? 

Labrador which is the breed of my dog Yogi.  

What’s your favorite Disney movie? 

My favorite was The Little Mermaid when I was little but another of my favorites is Soul. But my favorite is Up. 

What’s your opinion on Star Wars? 

love it and grew up with it. I love the Mandalorian. 

What’s your opinion on Marvel? 

Love Marvel and love to see the movies as soon as they come out (Now I am watching them in time-line order). 

Do you like Dc? 

I am not a big fan, but my favorite characters are Batman and Wonder-Woman. 

What’s your favorite Marvel Character? 

Iron-Man or the Hulk, I can’t choose a favorite. 

What’s your opinion on Disney? 

It was a large part of my childhood so I am a fan. 

Do want to tell your students or the Staff something? 

want to tell them how grateful I am to be at Irving and every day feel lucky to learn alongside everyone at Irving Middle School.
